How to use the Mic Test
- Press Start mic test and allow microphone access when the browser asks.
- Speak normally. The level meter and waveform should react to your voice.
- Use the device menu to switch between microphones. Press Stop when you are done.
Private by design
The audio is analyzed in your browser to draw the meter and is never recorded, stored or uploaded. Stopping the test releases the microphone immediately.
If your microphone is not working
If the browser never asks for permission, check the site permissions (the lock icon in the address bar). On Windows, check Settings → Privacy → Microphone. If the meter stays flat, choose another device in the menu, and check that the mic is not muted by a hardware switch or by another app.
Frequently asked questions
Is my voice recorded?
No. The signal is only measured locally for the level meter. Nothing is saved or sent.
Why is the level very low?
Move closer to the mic and check the input volume in your system sound settings.
Why does the browser say permission denied?
Microphone access was blocked earlier. Click the lock icon in the address bar, allow the microphone and reload.
