How to use the Spacebar Counter
- Press Space (or tap the big key on a phone) to start the timer.
- Keep pressing until time runs out. Holding the key down does not count — only fresh presses do.
- Read your total presses and presses per second, then try to beat it.

Why auto-repeat is ignored
When you hold a key down, the operating system repeats it about 30 times a second. That would make the counter meaningless, so this test ignores repeated key events and counts only real presses. Each press must be released before the next one counts.
Spacebar speed benchmarks
Most people manage 6–7 presses per second. Above 8 is fast; 10+ usually means alternating two thumbs or two fingers. Games like Geometry Dash and many rhythm and clicker games reward a fast spacebar, which is where this test became popular.
Frequently asked questions
Can I test the spacebar with two hands?
Yes. Alternating thumbs is a common technique and every press counts, as long as each one is a fresh key press.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes — tap the big space key on screen.
Can I change the time?
Choose 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds. The default is 10.
